Child and Family Therapy

The Notre Dame Psychological Services Center is a new non-profit mental health service, training, and research center operated by the Department of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame. Services are provided by doctoral student therapists from Notre Dame’s Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program. As our student therapists are not yet licensed, all of the services they provide are supervised closely by licensed Notre Dame faculty members. Sessions are recorded, and the supervisor reviews the recordings to ensure that the students are providing the best care possible. The recordings are confidential and are used only to provide feedback to the students. The Clinical Psychology program at Notre Dame is accredited by the American Psychological Association.

Who We Serve

We serve the Notre Dame, South Bend, and surrounding communities. You do not need to be affiliated with Notre Dame to receive therapy or assessment services from us: anyone may apply for services.

The Notre Dame Psychological Services Center provides scientifically supported therapy services that are customized to the unique needs of your child and family. Services are offered at the Shaw Center offices in South Bend.

We are continually reading the latest scientific literature so that we can provide the most up-to-date and effective treatments for your presenting concerns. Treatment practices at the clinic reflect current best practices in child clinical psychology. Consistent with these best practices, children’s individual care will typically involve parents in order to facilitate a comprehensive clinical assessment and to provide robust and consistent supports for children across home and school environments.

Examples of concerns we treat include:

  • Anxiety (e.g., separation anxiety, generalized anxiety)
  • Depression
  • Post-traumatic Stress
  • Behavioral problems (e.g., oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder)
